When doing interior design, windows can be treated in various ways. While some clients would prefer to use traditional textile-based curtains, others would prefer vertical blinds. In this article, I will focus on vertical blinds as an alternative to window treatment.
Vertical blinds are a modern alternative to the traditional textile window treatment that are functional and versatile. They are applicable for all types of windows both large, small, or wide, glass arches or sliding doors.
So what are vertical blinds?
According to the Cambridge English Dictionary, vertical blinds is a cover for a window made of vertical strips (about four inches wide) made of stiff cloth or plastic that can be moved in order to change the amount of light that is allowed in a room.
According to Wikipedia, vertical blinds are a series of thin slots that hang in front of a window, which can be turned as a group to close, with a slight overlap to block the window.
Most vertical blinds are made with a synthetic polyester fabric which is durable, fade-resistant and easy to clean. However, vertical blinds could also be made from other materials. These materials include wood, bamboo, aluminium or PVC.
Besides being made from various materials, vertical blinds also come in different colours and designs that can blend easily with sophistication in contemporary architecture. Vertical blinds could be designed to have images that complement the interior design project objectives or even painted.
